Even though anxiety attacks are not that lethal, doubtless anxiety can greatly affect the flow and productivity of your everyday life. Well, the good news is that there are a lot of treatment options that don’t necessarily prompt you to raid your bank account. Herbal remedies are one of the most appealing options to reduce anxiety naturally.

Some of the most effective and commonly used herbs for treating anxiety are:

Passion flower :
For the longest time, this herb has been used as a folk remedy. The promise of this herb did not go unnoticed since right now the herb is being subjected to a number of tests. And these tests are conducted to check the efficacy of the herb against anxiety. In one study, it was found out that the effects of the passion flower are similar to the benzodiazepine drugs. On that same study, it was found out as well that the persons who have taken the herb did perform well, and they experience less drowsiness. There are side effects that can be expected when this herb is used for anxiety. You may experience nausea, vomiting and drowsiness. In some cases, you may also experience rapid heartbeat. The effectiveness of the herb is still under review though, and most of these studies center on the safety issues.

This is another herb considered to hold a lot of promises against anxiety. This herb is best known for its efficacy against insomnia. Right now, this herb is also used for mild insomnia. However, the results of some of these studies are not conclusive enough. When the valerian is used for mild anxiety, this is often taken by the person before he or she sleeps. By experience, the herb will work after two or three weeks. And it is recommended that the herb should not be used for a longer period of time. When this is used, expect some side effects too like headache, palpitations and dizziness. This herb can be processed into tea and liquid extracts, and can also come in capsules.

Kava :

The java herb is also a good candidate that can be used against anxiety attacks. But this herb should be used in moderation since the herb may work against the liver. The US FDA has issued an advisory regarding the possible harmful effects of the herb to the liver.

Aromatherapy:
This is a popular therapy used right now, and this will include the use of plant oils and the oils are added to baths and to massage oil. Lavender is most common since this is known to be relaxing.
